Where to buy electronic components, accessories and lab instruments
After several years experimenting with electronics, I gathered a list of on-line shops where I can find electronic components and any other material and service which can be useful for electronics professionals and amateurs, including: PCB manufacturing and mounting, boxes and containers, SMD and PTH soldering tools and consumables, lab measuring instruments.
I published this list on my blog, hoping it could be useful for others and inviting them to share their lists. The idea had immediate success and I got many contributions from other community members. Here is the blog entry (in Italian) and the downloadable PDF: |

Home burglar alarm
This is a microcontroller based home burglar alarm I designed and made in my free time.
It was published in two parts on the "ElettronicaIN" magazine. The article expandable preview (on the right) and the download of the PDF and firmware (in Atmel AVR assembly language) are made possible thanks to the kind permission of the magazine's publisher (Futura Group).

Sensors evolution and translation of automotive applications
The first article is about industrial sensors evolution towards "smart sensors", integrating auto-calibration, auto-diagnostics, signal filtering & pre-processing through conventional algorithms or neural networks and fuzzy logic.
The second article is a translation (from English to Italian) of smart sensors automotive applications to improve security and performance and reduce polluting emissions.
Both articles were published on year 1, n. 2 of the "Elettronica Integrata" magazine (publisher: Tecniche Nuove).

Sealed lead acid battery charger
Current- and voltage-controlled sealed lead acid battery charger. It is protected against output shorting and battery polarity inversion.
It has a "charge in progress" LED indication which is on during charge and off when the charge is complete. The LED stays off also in case of incorrect connection. After making, I used it in the maintenance of a telecare network I was technical responsible of.
I proposed this circuit to the reader's projects section of the "Nuova Elettronica" magazine. It was approved and published on the year 26, n. 169-170 fascicle. The article preview and download are made possible thanks to the kind permission of the magazine's publisher (Centro Ricerche Elettroniche).

Interface circuit to turn on a loud siren when ring current is received on a telephone line, but keep quiet when the rotary dial is operated. I made a couple of them for elder relatives of mine, who used these devices for many years.
I proposed this circuit to the reader's projects section of the "Nuova Elettronica" magazine. It was approved and published in the year 23, n. 148-149 fascicle.
