Some forum answers related to assistive technologies
I started volunteering long time ago for disabled youths and for a telecare network. Since then I am interested in assistive technologies for disabled people.
I keep myself up-to-date by participating to assistive technologies related meetings, and reading newsletters of associations and companies to which I am subscribed. I also participate and give hints on the ElectroYou.it forum: - Horizon 2020 domotics and robotics projects for disabled and elderly people - Computer and electronic assistive devices for tetraplegics - Chronothermostat for visually impaired people - Video intercom for deaf-mute hints - Door bell, intercom and telephone flashing annunciator for deaf people - Remote command for two-motor electric adjustable bed - Electric hoist for lifting disabled - I keep an updated list of forum and blog entries related to disabled people and assistive technologies on the ElectroYou.it portal. |

Voltaic pile
I wrote this blog article about Alessandro Volta's electric pile and condenser electrometer.
The article includes historical documents, explanation and construction of a cup-style pile working prototype. Go to the article (in Italian) or download the PDF version:

CAI Bollate web site
I hand-made this HTML/CSS/Javascript web site for the Italian Alpine Club (Bollate section) of which I was member.
It had a fluid layout, an automatic Javascript based events reminder and calendar in home page, a page pre-loading feature for faster navigation, a weather forecast page fed by an external site, a photo album and various static pages. It was in use for eight years, from 2004 to 2011, then it was replaced by a CMS based web site. The original web site is still visible here. |
Mountain huts construction and running, and other work camps
I participated in several summer and year-round work camps in Italy: mountain huts construction and running, fire break paths maintenance and environment conservation, fruit harvesting, catering, painting, collection of scrap metal/paper/clothes/glass/plastics for recycling and other works.
These volunteering activities in Italy together with others done by locals in the destination countries contribute the necessary funding for social, educational and sanitary projects in Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru by the Operazione Mato Grosso volunteers organization.

Measuring the speed of sound at high school
I participated in a national contest promoted by AIF, which assigns each year the "Cesare Bonacini" prize among high school students.
AIF (Association for the Teaching of Physics) is a non-profit association whose aim is to improve and recognize the value of physics teaching and contribute to raising scientific awareness in Italy.
The chosen contest goal was to prepare, execute and explain an experiment to measure the speed of sound in free air.
